Lisa Wilson’s Parlay Films has acquired all international rights to the romantic comedy Vamps, which will be written and directed by Amy Heckerling.
The film will be a modern-day tale of two young female vampires living the good life in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardise their immortality.
Krysten Ritter is on board as one of the female leads with additional casting underway. This will make the first feature starring role for Ritter, who most recently appeared in Confessions Of A Shopaholic and will next be seen in DreamWorks’ comedy She’s Out Of My League.

The actress discusses falling in love in real life and on television, going to heroin school and witnessing her own death in AMCtv.com’s exclusive interview.
Q: Did you know your character would die when you signed onto the show?
A: Yes. I didn’t know beat for beat what was going to go down, I just knew it was going to be good! People were like, “Oh my God they killed you!” But I feel like if you’re going to go out, you should go out with a bang.

The CW will probably pick up another midseason drama, but Ostroff said she wanted to wait to see how the season plays out before making a decision. The network developed six drama pilots, including a Gossip Girl spinoff starring Brittany Snow, which aired as part of a Gossip Girl episode two weeks ago and was not received very well by fans. That series could still make an appearance next year, Ostroff said. Privileged and Reaper have been canceled.
“We were nervous about shooting so many pilots, but every one of the pilots was a tough contender for us,” she said. “They all were really, really good. We do have room for another midseason show. In all honesty, the Gossip Girl spinoff is the show that we’d love to find a place for as the season goes on. But we have to take a minute and see where we are.”

Attention Brittany Snow fans: Don’t panic.
Despite reports that the Gossip Girl spinoff has been axed, the ’80s series is not officially dead yet, according to a source close to the CW network.
The CW programmers are still making their decisions, and that everything, including Snow and Krysten Ritter’s new series, is under consideration.
Why wouldn’t a Gossip Girl spinoff get an automatic pickup – especially with flashback teases set to air on Monday night’s all-new Gossip Girl?
The problem for all of the CW pilots this year is that with Privileged likely to get a pickup, there are only three spots left in the CW’s schedule for new shows.
The original Gossip Girl, along with 90210, Supernatural, Smallville, One Tree Hill and America’s Next Top Model have all already been ordered for next year.

From EWAusielloFiles at Twitter:
Watching Gossip Girl spin-off, which a CW insider says is not DOA. Brittany Snow is fantastic. We’re about to meet her sis Krysten Ritter.
GG spinoff gets a solid B. Lots of potential. Brit/Krysten = fun team. In need of a good Chuck/Blair-type antagonist. See4urself Monday.
Here’s to hoping the show will happen!
GOSSIP GIRL SPINOFF (Warner Bros/CBS-Paramount/Alloy Entertainment): As I reported at 2:45 PM today, put a fork in it. It’s done. Next Monday’s episode of Gossip Girl is a flashback that was supposed to be a tempting taste for next fall’s spinoff following the wild teen years of now mom Lily van der Woodsen (played by Brittany Snow) in Los Angeles in the 1980s. But even though I heard Peter Roth loved its yesteryear vibe, the show went from hot, to lukewarm, to “fading but wouldn’t count out”, to now dead, according to my insiders. I’m really surprised.
